Mary Geiger, RN
- Mary obtained her RN degree in 1971. She began working as a nurses aide at McMillian Nursing Home at the age of 15 and there developed her love of geriatrics. After graduating she worked two years at the Portland VA Hospital and then began her career in management in Long Term Care, working in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. Along the way she taught high school in Silverton, OR and was the administrator of a hospital in Boise, ID. Mary was instrumental in developing the Hospice Program in Oregon in the 1970’s and is very active in both developing and teaching nurse’s aide classes in the early 1980s. Her interest in Alzheimer’s began as a young girl when her Grandmother, diagnosed with senility, used to stay with her family. Over the years, Mary put together a plan of care that she felt would benefit people with Alzheimer’s/dementia. In 1995 her life long dream of providing this care materialized when she opened Tiffin House, LLC in Centralia, WA. After 21 years Mary closed Tiffin House to provide more time to Career in Caregiving.
